Books I got this week!

Well This week I have acquired a few new books. This was originally done by the Story Siren! Well my computer is still being stupid and I can't get the description beside the picture! (very frustrating!) Oh well, So here it goes: Descriptions all from amazon

Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see auras, hear people’s thoughts, and know a person’s life story by touch. Going out of her way to shield herself from human contact to suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste…
Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition. He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets. Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what she’s thinking—and he’s the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head. She doesn’t know who he really is—or what he is. Damen equal parts light and darkness, and he belongs to an enchanted new world where no one ever dies.
Not all dreams are sweet.
For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.
She can't tell anybody about what she does -- they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can't control.
Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant....

Well, apparently I live here now—my mom just bought the place. And named it after me, Ashleigh, which was nice. But did she know how cold it is here??
Um, it's a tiny island with not much to do, unless you really like sleigh rides. But I gotta say there are quite a few hot guys on this cold island . . .
To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters -- never mind that enter-ing the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.
As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadow-hunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadow-hunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City -- whatever the cost?
~Any way I am very excited about all of these books! All of them I bought except City of Glass Which I borrowed from Hope's Bookshelf! Thank You!

Betrayed- P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

Summary: from amazon

Fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird has managed to settle in at the House of Night. She’s come to terms with the vast powers the vampyre goddess, Nyx, has given her, and is getting a handle on being the new Leader of the Dark Daughters. Best of all, Zoey finally feels like she belongs--like she really fits in. She actually has a boyfriend…or two. Then the unthinkable happens: Human teenagers are being killed, and all the evidence points to the House of Night. While danger stalks the humans from Zoey’s old life, she begins to realize that the very powers that make her so unique might also threaten those she loves. Then, when she needs her new friends the most, death strikes the House of Night, and Zoey must find the courage to face a betrayal that could break her heart, her soul, and jeopardize the very fabric of her world.

Review:
This one surprisingly took me forever to read! I mean it wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't the greatest either. I found myself frequently becoming frustrated with this one. It seemed to never get any where for some reason. I felt that they kept on repeating the same things over and over.

However, I thought that "Betrayed" was a very good sequel to "Marked". The characters were well done. You got to know the old characters better and see them develop. There were also new characters introduced leaving you interested in what will become of them.

Overall, This was a decent book. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a cute, funny, and different story of vampires!

When it happens- Susane Colasanti

Summary: from Amazon

Sara is searching for something real. It's the start of senior year, and the brainy and beautiful teen is determined that this will be the year she finds "it" -- that elusive little thing called love. She's been crushing all summer on Dave, who asked for her phone number at the end of junior year. She's been waiting for his call for months, stressing about her search not for just any boyfriend but the one who truly gets her, understands that she must make it into New York University, grasps the whacked-out relationship she has with her mom. She's got all her hopes wrapped up in Dave, not knowing that Tobey -- the slacker guy from art class who seems to care only about his band -- has spent countless hours crafting a plan to win her over.

Review:

When it Happens was such a cute book! You have Sarah the cute smart girl and then you have Toby the sweet, cute, slacker guy. Even though they seem to be completely different, they actually do have a lot in common. Plus you know how everyone says that opposites attract!

The characters in this story were done very well. The best thing about this book would have to be the two different perspectives. One was Tobys and the other, Sarahs. It was interesting seeing each characters view on events. The only thing that bothered me about this book was its length. I thought that it was just a little bit too long.

Overall, this book was pretty good. I recomend it to anyone looking for a cute and funny read.

Marked- P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast

Summary: from Amazon

In 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres not only exist but are also tolerated by humans. Those whom the creatures "mark" as special enter the House of Night school where they will either become vampyres themselves, or, if their body rejects the change, die. To Zoey, being marked is truly a blessing, though she's scared at first. She has never fit into the human world and has always felt she is destined for something else. Her grandmother, a descendant of the Cherokee, has always supported her emotionally, and it is she who takes the girl to her new school. But even there the teen stands apart from the others. Her mark from the Goddess Nyx is a special one, showing that her powers are very strong for one so young. At the House of Night, Zoey finds true friendship, loyalty, and romance as well as mistrust and deception. She realizes that all is not right in the vampyre world and that the problems she thought she left behind exist there as well.

Review:

I was looking for a good supernatural book when I came across Marked. I heard some good things about this series so I gave it a try. I soon found out early in the book that I would not be disappointed. I barley put it down and ended up finishing it in the same day I started it.

The only thing that bothered me was the way they spelled vampire. They spelled it like this "Vampyre" This bugged me a little bit, however I thought it was creative of them to spell it like that. I found their overall take on vampires very interesting, I especially liked the fact that humans were aware of vampires world wide.

Overall, this story was fantastic and I recommend it to all vampire lovers! I cannot wait to start reading the other books in this series! lol I already went out and bought the second one this weekend!
